Visa Officer can deny Study Permit based on applicant's academic proficiency (Low Marks)

In a recent judgement, the Federal Court (Canada) stated that the Visa Officer has the authority to assess an applicant's skills and abilities, including academic proficiency. It concluded that in Barot v. Canada case, the officer's assessment was within their discretion and based on the applicant's academic records to deny study permit.

Vancouver cupcake thief apologizes (apology is a Canadian thing, sorry!)

Recently, a cup cake thief broke into a Vancouver bakery, and soon felt sorry for his actions, and so began to clean the broken glass and mopped the floor. This incident was captured on the security cam and it went viral. He then left the store after taking a few selfies on the bakery's smartphone and with his heist of frosted treats!
The cupcake thief is again in the news after a week, and this time for calling the bakery to apologize and offer to pay for the damages and the stolen cupcakes! Sweet Story, eh!
